Self-care is one of the most underrated concepts. This blog is about organization and how to make things easier in your life. However, none of that can be achieved if you don’t take care of yourself. This doesn’t need to be anything extravagant or even complicated. Here are some simple ideas that anyone can use to give themselves a little self-care. Let’s be honest — you deserve it!

1) Set an alarm: Having a set time to wake up everyday helps make sure you get the correct amount of sleep. Everyone is different in this department. Find out what your sleep schedule is, and make it a habit. Making sure you don’t get too much or too little is essential for starting your day off right. Here is a great alarm clock!

2) Do yoga/meditate: Yoga and meditation are both great ways to get focused for the day. Having a schedule where you do a yoga exercise, ending with meditation, is a great combo. Doing this even a few times a week, you will notice a big difference in how you feel both mentally and physically. Here is a great yoga mat that can be used for both purposes.

3) Drink water: This isn’t always the easiest thing to do. I personally struggle with making sure I drink enough water. Having a water bottle with times written on it can help with that. Holding yourself accountable to the scheduled times is always worth it in the end. Here is a great water bottle, with some encouraging statements to help you get through the day!

4) Make your bed: As simple as this sounds, it can be one of the most rewarding. The act of making your bed may not always be at the top of your list. It takes time out of your day that you may not want to relinquish, but think about how you feel when you see that bed made. Even if all you do that day is make your bed, you can still say you accomplished something. Don’t underestimate how the act of making a bed can make you feel.

5) Pamper yourself in the shower/bath: There is nothing like being pampered, even if you do it yourself. I understand not everyone can take a shower or bath for an extended period of time. However, it doesn’t hurt to do something small for yourself everyday. Here are my favorite ideas:

No matter what you feel like that day, any one of these ideas can leave you feeling refreshed!

6) Journaling: Writing out your thoughts and ideas can be very freeing. I know that this does not work for everyone, but it’s definitely worth trying. The great thing about a journal is that it can be done in whatever manner you wish. Whether that is a diary, sketch book, song lyrics, or even a sketch book, it is 100% yours. Here is a great starting journal for which ever way you choose to go.

Self-care is something that everyone should do, whether that’s going to the spa, or doing little things for yourself. Making this a habit will make the rest of your day that much easier.
